Section 1 : Professional Singers
Preliminary Contest:
    One Opera Aria (free choice)
    One Melody by George Enescu (free choice),
    except No.1, 3, 5 Cycle op.15, poems by Clément Marot
Semi-Final:
    One 20th Century Opera Aria (free choice)
    One melody by a contemporary French or Romanian composer (written in 1975 or later)
    Another Melody by George Enescu (free choice), except No.1, 3, 5 Cycle op.15, poems by Clément Marot
Final (10 min):
    One romantic Opera Aria composed between 1820 and 1920 (Bellini, Donizetti, Weber, Verdi, Gounod, Offenbach, Wagner, Bizet, Massenet, Puccini).
    One Contemporary Opera Aria (chosen from the list)

    One Melody by George Enescu (free choice)

Prizes & rewards
Section 1 : Professionals Singers

    1st Grand Prix Opera: 3 000 euros
    2nd Grand Prix Opera: 2 000 euros
    3rd Grand Prix Opera: 1 500 euros
    Opera Cluj Special Prize: a role or a concert at the Romanian National Opera, Cluj Napoca
    Grand Prix «Georges Enesco»: 3 000 euros awarded by the Romanian Cultural Institute
    Grand Prix Contemporary Prize: 3 000 euros
    Henri Nafilyan Special Prize: 1000 € offert by the composer for the best interpetation from one of his melodies
    Jules Massenet Special Prize: 1 000 euros for the
    best interpretation of an opera aria by Jules Massenet
    “Catalina Cortez” Special Prize: 1 000 euros

Section 2 : Amateurs of Vocal Art

The winner of the first prize will participate in a concert organized in either France or Romania, as well as in Master Class (in 2022).

Rules

    Age limit:
    Professional singers section: 35 years Amateurs Section: no age limit; restricted to non-professional singers with a passion for Vocal Arts.
    Subscription:
    Professionals : 90 € – Amateurs : 60 €
    Fees are non-refundable.
    Cumulative Prizes :
    The candidates in the professional singers section cannot win more than one Grand Prize. However it is possible for a candidate to win a Grand Prize and a Special Prize.
    Passage order :
    The order of turn for the competition will be sorted alphabetically.
    Decisions of the jury:
    The jury is sovereign in its choices, which are final. It has the right not to hear the whole repertoire of each round as well as the right to not award all prizes.
    Consultation of the Jury by candidates :
    Unsuccessful candidates may, if they so wish, talk with the members of the jury after the announcement of the final results. For successful candidates, any communication with the members of the jury between tests is prohibited.
    The Final will be public for both sections.
    Accommodation and travel expenses:
    Are the responsibility of the candidates
    Accompaniment and rehearsals :
    A pianist will be available to the candidates during
    the Competition. Candidats may be a ccompanied by
    their pianist. Rehearsals with the pianist will take place the day before the Competition.
    Photocopies of scores: photocopies of scores are strictly forbidden during the competition.

The contemporary pieces will have to be chosen amongst this list of composers.

The total length of the chosen arias shall be comprised between 10 and 15 minutes

If you choose to compete for two prizes, the total length of the chosen arias cannot exceed 15 min.

    For the Special Jules MASSENET Prize (1 000 €), offered by the Association MASSENET Internationale for the interpretation of an Massenet opera aria
    This year, arias are focused on rarely performed Massenet operas, which the Association MASSENET Internationale wishes to highlight: Sapho (1897), Don Quichotte (1909) & Roma (1912).
